Brodor o Langennech ger Llanelli, ond bellach wedi byw yng Nghaerfyrddin ers bron i hanner canrif.Wedi gyrfa ym myd addysg mae bellach yn canolbwyntio ar fynegi ei hun trwy ei luniau mewn olew.

Ffurf a lliwiau tirlun ac adeiladau Cymru yw ei gariad a'i ysbrydoliaeth.......y gyllell yw ei gyfrwng. Y dylanwad cyntaf arno oedd yr arlunydd a'i athro celf o Lanelli, John Bowen. Edmyga waith Kyffin Williams a Lucien Freud, a heddiw y prif ddylanwad arno yw Gwilym Pritchard.

Wrth baentio, fe wel y cyfle i droi "golygfeydd bob-dydd" yn gelfyddyd; a thrwy baentio'r mor neu fynydd, gellir darganfod "eiliadau tragwyddol".

Y sialens wrth greu darlun yw cynnwysdim ond digon o fanylion, i dynnu sylw'r edrychwr, a thrwy ddefnyddio cyllell, yn lle brws, gellir osgoi gor-fanylder. Ceisiau beintio yr hyn a welir ac a deimlir ond hefyd yr hyn na welir yn un haen ar y to, hyd nes y gwireddir yn freuddwyd.

Dangosir ei waith yn nifer o orielau (gwelir isod) ac hefyd ar S4C - "Y Sioe Gelf" a "P'nawn Da". Mae'n sylwebu ar sioeau celf ar S4C a Radio Cymru.

Wynne Jenkins -  a native of Llangennech, Llanelli - but has been living in Carmarthen for nearly half a century. After a career in education, he now concentrates on expressing himself through his painting in oils.

The form and colour of the landscape and buildings of his Wales are his love and inspiration ....... the palette knife his medium. His initial influence was his Art Master at Llanelli Boys Grammar School, John Bowen. He admires the work of Kyffin Williams and Lucien Freud. Currently his main influence is Gwilym Pritchard.

Painting affords the opportunity to transform well-known and much-loved scenes into an art form. In this way one becomes aware of the timelessness of our seas and mountains.

The challenge is, by using a palette knife, rather than a brush, to express with precision the emotional response to nature. He seeks to paint not only that which is seen and felt, but also that which is not seen - one layer at a time, until the dream is realised.

Wynne Jenkins exhibits at the galleries listed below. In addiiton his works have featured on television - "Y Sioe Gelf" and "P'nawn Da" on S4C for whom he also commentates on art.
